🚀 New Feature – Location Notes
The galaxy is a big place, and you were never meant to remember all of it. You have all done it. You stumble across a quiet asteroid field with a generous seam of ore, or a starbase that happens to stock the very blueprint you had been hunting for, and you tell yourself you will remember it. Three systems later, it is gone. From today, you can write it down. Open the Navigation Console and you will find a new column at the end of the list, headed Note.
Every location now carries a star. Click a grey one and a small window opens where you can jot down whatever you like about that place, up to five hundred characters. Save it, and the star turns gold. From then on, a gold star in the Navigation Console means that is somewhere you have already sized up, with your own words waiting behind it. What you write is entirely your own business. Where the best rocks sit in a field. Which stations are worth the trip. A note to yourself about the pirates in a system that very nearly finished you off last time. Nobody else can see your notes, they are yours alone.
To read them all in one place, head to the Information Centre and look for the new My Notes tab. Every location you have starred is listed there with your note beside it, along with the system it sits in and a search box that looks inside the note text as well as the names, so you can find that half remembered scribble about titanium in seconds. You can edit any note on the spot, or clear one out once it has served its purpose. Your notes travel with you wherever you fly, so go and start marking up the galaxy.
🚀 New Feature – Notes
We know exactly what you were about to ask. Somewhere out there, roughly ten minutes after reading about location notes, a captain was going to send us a message. It would have opened with “this is brilliant, but”, and it would have finished with “can I just use it as a notepad?” Yes. Yes you can. We have already built it.
Open the Information Centre, head to the My Notes tab, and you will spot two buttons sitting beside the search box. Location Notes is where your starred places live, exactly as before. Click Personal Notes and the whole thing becomes a blank pad that is entirely yours to fill. Give each note a title and write whatever you please underneath, up to two thousand characters, which is a good deal more room than a quick location scribble gets. The trade route you are still working out. A shopping list of ore for your next big build.
Everything that one pirate owes you. The names of captains you trust, and the names of the ones you certainly do not. Write as many as you like, edit them whenever the mood takes you, and clear them out once they have served their purpose. The search box reads your titles and your writing both, so even a well stuffed notepad stays easy to work through. So there you have it. Asked and answered, before you got the chance to ask. ✨ Improvement – Commercial Store Update
Filling your hold from Commercial Storage just became a single click. You know the routine. You dock, you open Commercial Storage, and you want a hold full of one particular ore. So you click the item, you squint at your cargo figures, you work out how much room you actually have left, and then you either nudge a slider until it lands on the right number or you type it in by hand. Four steps, a bit of mental arithmetic, and all of it just to say “fill her up”.
Not any more. Every item in Commercial Storage now carries a small green packing box icon. Click it, and we work out how much space is left in your hold, take exactly that much of that resource, and load it aboard. One click, done. Hover over the box before you click and it will tell you precisely what it is about to do, right down to the number of units, so there are no surprises.
If your hold is already full the icon simply greys out and says so. If the stack in storage is smaller than your free space, you get the whole stack. If your hold fills first, you get exactly as much as fits and not a unit more. Either way you never have to do the sums yourself. Changed your mind? Nothing is lost. Deposit it straight back, storage capacity is unlimited and always has been.
The slider and the Withdraw button have not gone anywhere. When you want a precise amount, they work exactly as they always did. The packing box is simply there for the times you want the lot.
🚀 New Feature – Corp Store Transfer
Two brand new buttons have appeared on your Corp Store, and one of them reaches somewhere the store never could. Until tonight the Corp Store offered you a slider and a number box, and that was your lot. Want a stack of ore? Click the item, drag the slider or type the figure, then hit Withdraw. And wherever you were headed, everything landed in your personal Commercial Storage first. If what you really wanted was a full hold, you then had to open Commercial Storage and shift the whole lot a second time. Two panels, two transfers, all to move one pile of ore. Every item in the Corp Store now carries two small icons. Both are new.
Neither existed before today. The green packing box is the quick grab. One click takes the entire stack of that resource into your personal Commercial Storage. That is the same destination the store has always used, but until now getting there meant three separate actions. It is one, and the slider never comes into it. The cyan rocket is the bigger news, because it goes somewhere new. Click it and the material travels from the Corp Store straight into your ship’s hold, skipping Commercial Storage altogether.
That route simply did not exist before. We work out how much room you have and load exactly that much. If the corp’s stack is smaller than your free space, you get the lot. If your hold fills first, you get precisely what fits and the remainder stays in the store for your crewmates. Hover over either icon and it will tell you the exact number before you commit. While we were in there we sharpened up the messages. Transfers used to report back with “withdrew 28,240 units across 1 item”, which told you the amount but never what you had actually picked up.
They now name the resource and where it landed, so you get “Withdrew 28,240 Alucite Ore to your ship”. The corp activity log has had the same treatment. It now records whether a member took materials to their personal Commercial Storage or loaded them straight onto their ship, so Directors can see at a glance where the corp’s hard won materials are heading.
The slider and the Withdraw button have not gone anywhere, and they work exactly as they always did for the times you want a precise amount. The two icons are simply there for the times you want the lot. And one reminder for Directors, Recruits still cannot withdraw from the store. That has not changed.
