📋 New Feature

  • Cruiser captains, your hard points have been waiting for something worthy of them, and it has arrived. A full line of cruiser grade weaponry is now on the workbench: eight new guns built for hulls that can carry serious firepower. They hit considerably harder than anything a frigate can mount, and they ask more of you in return, both in the energy your reactors must supply and in the weapons training needed to wield them.
  • From the Tempest Plasma Array at the lighter end all the way up to the fearsome Solar Scourge, there is something for every captain, with plasma, kinetic, thermal, cryogenic and electrical flavours spread across the range.
  • Alongside the guns comes a brand new top tier of ship modules, the Apex line. Where Elite plating was the ceiling for frigate engineers, Apex now sits above it. Expect stronger armour and hull, faster shield regeneration, more thrust, more cargo and more berths, each one a clear step up for a captain who has put in the engineering hours to fit it.
  • None of this comes cheap, and that is rather the point. Cruiser kit is forged from rarer and tougher materials than its frigate cousins, so set aside time for a proper procurement run before you can assemble a full set. The blueprints are waiting in the usual places, the weapons among the general blueprints and the Apex modules over with Kriton. Graduate to a cruiser, fit her out properly, and go and remind the galaxy what a real warship is capable of.

🔧 Bug Fix

  • A quick one for the SAFE System Single player Mining. We have had a steady trickle of reports about red network errors flashing up mid mine, and after a good dig the culprit turned out to be sitting right there in the captain’s chair. Almost every one of these reports came from miners who had wandered off to another browser tab, left their lasers running, and come back to find the game thoroughly cross with them.
  • Here is what was actually happening. When you switch away from the game, your browser quietly throttles everything in the background tab to save power. Your mining lasers kept trying to fire into that half frozen state, the timing drifted out of step with the server, and the result was a little pile of angry red errors waiting for you on your return. Not a real fault with your ship, just your ship trying to work while the browser had it dozing.
  • So we have taught the mining console some manners. From now on, if you tab away or bury the window while mining, your lasers will calmly pause instead of throwing a tantrum. The browser tab title even changes to let you know it is on standby. When you come back, a Resume Mining button is waiting for you. Give it a press, watch the short spin up, and your lasers pick straight back up on the same rocks they were chewing on before.
  • One important note for the adventurous. This polite little pause is for solo mining in safe, high security systems only. It does not apply out in lawless space, and it most certainly does not apply inside a pirate hideout. If you decide to alt tab in the middle of a firefight, your hull is entirely on its own, and the pirates will absolutely not wait for you to finish reading your emails. Happy, and uninterrupted, mining Captains.
