📋 New Feature
- A new kind of work has opened up across the galaxy: Derelict Surveys. Forty Wreck Cartographers — weathered salvage surveyors with a story or two to tell — have set up shop on promenades from the high-law core out to the lawless frontier, and they’ll pay you to chart the dead ships drifting in their home system.
- Taking a survey contract is simple to grasp but no small undertaking. Board the derelicts in that system and explore them compartment by compartment: every new room you set foot in counts toward the total. A contract runs anywhere from 100 to 200 rooms, so expect to pick your way through wreck after wreck. Backtracking is free — only fresh rooms count — and the tally is capped at the contract figure, so there’s no penalty for over-exploring.
- When the survey is complete, return to the Cartographer who hired you and hand it in through the Mission Hand-in screen for the full payment. The reward is paid as a lump sum on completion — credits and Captain experience both — and rougher space pays better: every law level below 8 adds a hazard bonus, climbing to a hefty premium in the most lawless systems. You’ll need a Derelict Scanner fitted to find and board the wrecks, so kit out before you set off. Dock somewhere new, track down the local Wreck Cartographer, and start mapping the bones of the dead.
🔧 Bug Fix
- Fixed an issue where Basic and Founder mining drones — and captains mining by hand — couldn’t extract anything from asteroid fields in lower-law systems. Those fields had been stocked with rarer ore only, which left common-ore miners with nothing to work with.
- A moderate amount of common ore has now been seeded across every affected field, so Basic and Founder drones (and newer miners just starting out) always have something to bring home — while the richer, rarer character of low-law fields stays intact. Thanks to the sharp-eyed captain who reported it!
